GENERAL CLUB INFORMATION
Constitution and Bylaws
All members and guests must abide by the Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club’s Constitution and Bylaws, policies, rules, and regulations. The Club’s Bylaws are posted on the Club’s website at the Bylaws, News, and Press Releases link.
Hours of Operation
The Club is open year-round, except for Christmas Day, during the following hours:

The Club may close earlier than the above hours if no further court reservations have been made for that day. Court reservations must be made at least 4 hours in advance.
Conduct (revised)
All Club members and guests shall behave in a courteous and respectful manner toward fellow members, guests, and Club employees while they are on Club premises. Those demonstrating unacceptable conduct may be asked to leave the Club. Unacceptable conduct includes the following:
Loud, aggressive, or belligerent on- or off-court behavior that compromises the recreational environment of other players
Acting violently or threatening to do so
Theft of or damage to Club property, or threatening to do so
Arguing or fighting with other members, guests, or employees
Coming to the Club under the influence of illegal drugs
Using or possessing illegal drugs at the Club
Violating Club rules and regulations
Unlawful discrimination or harassment
Please do not litter.
Parking
Designated parking for members and guests is in the main lot west of the Club. The small parking area south of the Clubhouse is designated for deliveries and for handicapped patrons only. Handicapped parking is also available in the main lot.
Do not leave your valuables in your parked car.
Lockers and Towels
Members may rent lockers and towels at the front desk. Locker rates are $36 per year for large lockers and $24 per year for small lockers. The Club cannot accept any responsibility for valuables left in the Club lockers or locker rooms.
Smoking
In accordance with the Utah Clean Air Act of 2007, smoking is prohibited in all indoor areas of the Club. Smoking is not permitted within 25 feet of any entrance-way, exit, open window, or air intake of a building where smoking is prohibited.
FACILITIES AND RULES
Tennis Courts
Tennis court use is restricted to Club members in good standing and their registered guests. Guests must be accompanied by a Club member at all times.
The Board of Directors and Club management may approve the use of the Club’s courts for United States Tennis Association (USTA)-sanctioned, Utah Tennis Association (UTA), other tournaments, and community partners on occasion. These tournaments and partnerships may be open to nonmembers.
Court Schedule
Indoor courts 13–18, in the David L. Freed Tennis House, are available year-round. Outdoor courts 1–5 are bubbled from October until April for year-round use. Outdoor courts 6–12 are available from early spring until late fall, weather permitting.
Court Attire
Players shall wear appropriate tennis attire on the court at all times, including regulation tennis footwear. Flip-flops, running shoes, street shoes, and other dark-soled footwear that leave marks on courts are prohibited. All players must wear shirts on the court at all times.
Swimming Pool
Swimming pool use is restricted to Club members in good standing and their registered guests. Members and guests must check in at the front desk and wear a wrist band at all times on the pool deck. Guests must be accompanied by a Club member at all times.
Pool Schedule
The regular pool season begins with Memorial Day weekend and ends with Labor Day weekend. The pool may also be open for early and late season swimming before Memorial Day and after Labor Day. For a schedule of early and late season swimming, see the website, newsletter, or contact the front desk.
Open Plunge and Lap Swim
Monday through Friday 1 pm–9 pm (1 pm–7 pm when a private party is scheduled)
Saturday, Sunday, holidays 11 am–7 pm
During summer swimming and diving sessions, lessons take place between 10 am and 1 pm each weekday. Open plunge is not offered during these hours.
One lane may be dedicated to lap swimming during open plunge at any time.
Make-Up Swim Lessons and Swim & Dive Meets
On Saturdays, make-up swimming lessons are held from 9–11 am.
The pool closes at 3:00 pm (for swim and dive meets) or 4:00 pm (for swim meets only) on the days the Club hosts home meets. For a swim meet schedule, check the Swim & Dive Team Parents link on the Club website or the Club lobby calendar.
Pool Rules
Swimming pool rules are of lifesaving importance. To ensure that the safest and most enjoyable swimming experience, all members and guests who use the pool must act in accordance with all rules that follow, as well as those posted at the pool.
All members and their guests must register at the Club front desk and wear a wrist band before proceeding to the pool area. Without a wrist band, members and their guests will not be allowed into the pool area.
Swimmers must be dry and must wear shirts and shoes to enter Clubhouse and café.
Children ages 8 and under must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at all times.
Running, dunking, pushing, tag games, jumping backward into the pool, or any other unsafe activity is not allowed.
Diving boards may be used by only one person at a time.
No glass containers are allowed in the pool area.
Unnecessary conversations with lifeguards are not allowed.
No one is allowed in the pool during lessons, except those enrolled in the lesson being taught.
Guests must be accompanied by a Club member at all times. Guests must register and pay the appropriate guest fee and receive a wrist band before entering the pool area. Without a wrist band, guests will not be allowed into the pool area. Members are responsible for ensuring their guests register with the Front Desk and pay appropriate guest fees. There is a $25 fine for violating this rule.
Pool toys, including inflatable water wings, air mattresses, or squirt guns, are allowed ONLY in the tots pool.
All swimmers must have a signed waiver form on file when no lifeguard is on duty.
Management and swimming personnel may evict anyone whose conduct is considered detrimental to the safety or pleasure of others.
Club Café
The Club Café opens Memorial Day weekend and closes after Labor Day weekend, and is open Monday through Friday from 9 am–6 pm, and Saturday from 11–6 pm as well as for special events throughout the year.

Court Reservations
Regular advance reservations may be booked up to a week in advance. The rate for regular reservations is $14/hour.
Monthly reservation requests must be made, in writing, by the 20th of the prior month. Monthly reservations may be made for a specific time and day of the week. The rate for monthly reservations is $16/hour.
Quarterly reservations must be prepaid for a minimum of 3 months for a specific time and day of the week. The rate for quarterly reservations is $14/hour.
Court and Private Tennis Lesson Cancellation and No-Show Fees
If a court is not available at the time you wish to play, you may put your name on a cancellation list and you will be called in the event the court opens up at that time. There is no obligation to pay for the court if an opening occurs which you do not wish to use.
Once a court is booked, there is a $3/hour cancellation fee; this fee also applies to moving from an indoor to an outdoor court. To avoid full court charges (or no-show fees), it is advisable to cancel courts 24 hours in advance.
Moving from an indoor court to an outdoor court will result in the same $5/hour cancellation fee. Full court fees will be charged for no-shows. Prime time hours are 8–11 am and 4–8 pm, Monday through Friday, and 8 am–12 noon on Saturday. There is no charge for outdoor courts.
A private tennis lesson is official when it is booked. Unless the lesson is cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time, lesson fees will be charged.
MEMBERSHIP TYPES, BENEFITS, AND DUES
The Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club is an equity member-owned private club. Equity membership price fluctuates with market value based on supply and demand.
Membership Types
Several membership types and plans are available for individuals and for families. These membership types include Full Family Equity, Summer Family Equity, Adult Individual, and Junior Individual.
Full Family Equity membership includes full year-round Club privileges for members, their spouses, and their unmarried children under the age of 25.
Full Family Equity membership sale price is based on current market value.
Full Family Equity membership dues are $1,090/year or $100/month for 12 months.
Full Family Equity members may participate in the Club’s junior development tennis and summer swim and dive team.
Full Family Equity members are entitled to a Grandchild Pass (see below).
Summer Family Equity membership includes full Club privileges for members, their spouses, and their unmarried children under the age of 25 from Memorial Day through Labor Day.
Summer Family Equity membership sale price is currently $1,000.
Summer Family Equity membership dues are $670/summer or $245/month for 3 months.
Summer Family Equity members may participate in the Club’s junior development tennis program and summer swim and dive team.
Adult Individual membership includes full year-round Club privileges for adult members. There is no annual commitment for Adult Individual membership; this membership may be purchased for month-to-month use.
Adult members must be 21 years or older. Adult memberships require a $50 initiation fee.
Adult Individual membership dues are $850 year or $70/month.
Adult members’ children may not participate in the Club’s junior development tennis program and swim and dive team. Participation on the Club’s swim and dive team is only available to children of Full Family Equity and Summer Family Equity members.
Junior Individual membership includes full Club privileges for junior members year-round.
Junior members must be under 21 years of age. Junior memberships require a $50 initiation fee.
Junior Individual membership dues are $360 year or $30/month.
Junior members may participate in junior development tennis program, use tennis courts on a day-of-play basis, and use the swimming pool.
Junior members may bring guests to the Club; guests must be under 21 years of age and may NOT be family members. In accordance with the Utah Country Club Swim & Dive League, Juniors may not participate on the Club’s Swim and Dive teams.
Grandchild Pass
Grandchildren of Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club Full Family Equity members (in good standing) may use a Grandchild Pass for a total of 10 visits to the Club per calendar year. One grandchild may have access to the entire Club for 10 visits, 10 grandchildren may have access to the entire Club for 1 visit, or 5 grandchildren may have access to the entire Club for 2 visits, and so on. After the 10 visits have been used, grandchildren of Full Family Equity members will be charged the regular $5 guest fee for swimming and $15 guest for tennis.
Grandchildren must be age 18 or under. Grandparents must accompany grandchildren when using the Club.
As always, court fees, lesson fees, towel fees, and other Club purchases will be charged.
Membership Transfers or Sales
To sell a membership, members must complete a written notice of their intention to sell their membership and submit to the General Managers. A transfer fee of 30% of the selling price is charged to the seller by the Club. All memberships must be transferred or sold through the Club.
In accordance with the Club bylaws, when an equity member sells his or her membership to a family or individual, the Club retains 30% of the sale price and the selling member retains 70% of the sale price. Members do not retain any portion of sale price from memberships purchased for $300 or less.
General Membership Meeting
An Club membership meeting is held annually fro Full Equity members. At this meeting, new Board of Directors candidates will be elected by the Full Equity members. Advance announcements of the annual and any other special meetings will be sent to all Full Equity members, with a notice of at least 10 days. Only Full Equity members have a vote in the affairs of the Club.
CLUB PRIVILEGES RELATED TO ACCOUNT STATUS
Any member, whose account is in good standing, is entitled to use the Club’s facilities. Annual dues are payable by May 31st of each year. Monthly dues must be paid before the 1st of each month—for example, dues for June must be paid by May 31st. Finance charges of 2% per month will be charged for unpaid balances past 30 days. Any unpaid balance that becomes 60 days past due will automatically be charged to a members’ credit card. If the a member chooses not to provide the Club with current credit card information, their ability to charge to their Club account (including court fees, lessons, and café purchases, etc.) will be revoked and fees must be paid at the time that service is rendered. The Board of Directors and/or General Managers may take action to rescind any membership, and may declare any membership forfeited when dues, fees, or assessments remain unpaid after 60 days.
LIABILITY
According to the Club’s By-laws (revised May 4, 2010), Article X, Sections 10-7), the following policy applies:
Sec. 10-7. Loss, Injury or Damage: The Club shall have no liability to any member for loss of or injury to any personal property, including clothing or other personal property and shall have no responsibility or liability for personal injury to any member arising out of use by any member of the Club facilities or exercise of any privileges of the Club.
GUEST PRIVILEGES AND FEES
Guest Privileges
The use of the Club facilities is restricted to Club members and their registered guests. Guests must be accompanied by a member at all times and are subject to the same rules, regulations, and policies as members. A family or adult member may bring a guest at any time, provided the guest is registered by name and the guest fee is paid before accessing the facilities. There is a $25 fine for members who fail to register their guests prior to court or pool use.

Prime time is Monday – Friday, 8–11 am and 5–7 pm. Any other time is non-prime time.
Scholarships
The Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club partners with the UTA in supporting qualified young athletes for scholarship support to improve their tennis game. It is the scholarship recipients’ responsibility to ensure that their current scholarship documentation is on file with the Club, and to check in with the front desk prior to play.
TENNIS AND AQUATICS PROGRAMS
The Club offers a year-round tennis program and a summer aquatics program for all ages and abilities. For seasonal program information, visit the website or contact the Club.
All tennis and swimming program, lesson, clinic, event, and social fees must be paid through the Club’s front desk. Members or nonmembers may not receive payment for teaching tennis or swimming on Club courts or in the Club pool unless they are a member of the Club’s professional teaching staff.
Tennis Program
Tennis Lessons
The Club offer private, semi-private, and group lessons taught by United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) certified tennis professionals. Lessons for all ages and ability levels may be scheduled with individual tennis professionals.
Tennis League
League Workouts
During League seasons, men’s and women’s workouts are taught according to National Tennis Rating Program (NTRP) skill levels. Players are welcome to participate in workouts whether they are on a league team or not. Morning and evening workout schedules, for men and women, are updated seasonally.
Workout participants (members and nonmembers) must pay additional court fees to occupy a court for any length of time following a formal workout. Nonmembers who participate in league must pay a $5 guest fee.
Men’s, Women’s, and Mixed Leagues
The Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club is a member of the USPTA and the UTA. The Club’s League teams compete in sanctioned Adult League at all NTRP levels and all members are welcome to participate. The Club has League play specifics available before each session.
Junior Development Tennis
The Junior Development Program offers year-round programs for children 5–18 years old and for individuals of varying abilities. These groups meet for instruction, practice, and competition. For program registration information, see the website or contact the Club.
Aquatics Program
The mission of the Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club’s aquatics program is to provide members with a financially viable, safe, and unequaled program for the development of excellent swimming and diving technique, sound physical strength and conditioning, personal growth, self esteem, and sportsmanship at all levels.
Swim and Dive Team Description and Prerequisites*
Swim Team Description and Prerequisites*
Description: Swim Team is designed to physically condition young swimmers, hone swimming skills, and provide competitive opportunities. To receive maximum benefits, registration for Swim Team is in early May; however, participation is encouraged at all times. Swim Team is all-inclusive and invites swimmers of all ability levels. In addition, the Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club offers multiple group lessons designed to assist children with acquiring a full range of swimming skills and abilities, from beginner to elite. Regardless of a swimmer’s experience or ability, coaches endeavor to bring out the best in each individual and recognize their success as measured against the swimmer’s personal goals and aspirations.
Swim Team is organized in three sections to allow children to participate at levels congruent with their physical and technical abilities: 12 & Up (ages 12 to 18) Swim Team, 12 & Below (ages 7-12) Swim Team, Beginner Team (all ages). Coaches, parents, and swimmers work together to determine a swimmer’s placement consistent with his or her interest level.
Prerequisites: Ages 5 and up; capable of swimming any stroke one 25-yard length of the pool.
Dive Team Description and Prerequisites*
Description: Dive Team is designed to provide the practice and repetition required to master a range of competition-specific dives and provide competitive opportunities. To receive maximum benefits, registration for Dive Team is in early May; however, participation is encouraged at all times. Dive Team is all inclusive and invites divers of all ability levels. In addition, the Salt Lake Swimming & Tennis Club offers multiple group lessons designed to assist children with acquiring a full range of diving skills and abilities from beginner to elite. Regardless of a diver’s experience or ability, coaches endeavor to bring out the best in each individual and recognize their success as measured against the diver’s personal goals and aspirations.
Dive Team is organized in two sections to allow children to participate at levels congruent with their physical maturity and technical abilities.
12 & Up Dive Team
12 & Below Dive Team
Prerequisite: Divers 17 years of age and under with the ability to execute the Diving League’s Minimum requirements for competition. Note: It is strongly recommended that athletes wishing to participate on the Diving team attain the minimum required dives in a Group or Private Lesson prior to practicing with the team.
*Children participating on the Club’s Swim or Dive teams must be direct descendants of Full Equity or Summer Family Equity members, according to the Utah Country Club Swim & Dive League’s Bylaws.
Swim and Dive Lessons
The Aquatics Program offers swim and dive lessons for all ages and abilities, beginning with tots, advanced beginner, and intermediate; lessons are also offered focusing on stroke development, competitive techniques, and diving.
